About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all event programming across SPLC
- Establish center-wide event standards, policies, and integrated event platforms
- Oversee all aspects of event planning including concept development, logistics, budgeting, and production for 200+ annual events
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of events professionals
- Lead planning committees for high-priority convenings such as Jubilee Week and Board Meetings
- Manage the Events & Meetings submission process and room assignments via Airtable
- Build and maintain strategic global partnerships with vendors and venues to secure preferred rates
- Review, negotiate, and execute event-related contracts
- Ensure all events are inclusive, accessible, and representative of the communities served
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, design, and strategy
- Experience managing large-scale, multi-site, and high-profile events in a nonprofit or social justice context
- At least 5 years of proven managerial experience leading a team of professionals
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to travel domestically for events and meetings as needed
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
