Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and enforce environmental, health, and safety policies and programs
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste, air permitting, and spill prevention
• Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and safety inspections
• Develop emergency response plans for accidents, chemical spills, and fire safety
• Lead investigations of accidents and near-miss incidents to identify root causes
• Design and deliver safety training programs for employees
• Foster a company-wide safety culture and continual improvement initiatives
• Prepare EHS performance metric reports for senior management
• Develop and manage the EHS budget
• Integrate EHS strategies into business processes with operations, legal, and engineering
• Oversee EHS workforce planning, hiring, and mentoring
• Manage external EHS consultants and contract negotiations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in health & safety, Environmental Technology, or similar field
• Certified Health & Safety Professional (CSP)
• 15+ years of experience in occupational health and safety within manufacturing, aerospace, or construction
• Practical experience in emergency management and occupational hygiene
• Proficiency in risk assessment, policy development, and project management
• Ability to work in environments with electrical, chemical, and noise hazards
• Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods
• Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts
