Director, Engineering – Wearables Software

Responsibilities

• Own execution across wearable software programs, ensuring alignment across platform software, multimedia, connectivity, system integration, and product engineering.
• Drive development, product engineering, commercialization, and lifecycle support of Qualcomm wearable platforms across multiple product generations.
• Collaborate with architecture, hardware, systems, validation, quality, product management, and customer engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Drive product readiness, feature delivery, quality improvements, and successful product launches.
• Provide technical leadership for system architecture, software optimization, feature partitioning, and power-performance tradeoffs.
• Build and develop high-performing engineering organizations through talent development, succession planning, and leadership coaching.
• Champion engineering excellence through process improvements, automation, and software engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Minimum of 8 years of Software Engineering experience (or 7 years with a Master's, or 6 years with a PhD).

Preferred Qualifications

• 20+ years of engineering experience with a strong track record of delivering complex products and leading large engineering organizations.
• Proven success driving product strategy and execution across the full lifecycle from concept to commercialization.
• Deep expertise in embedded systems, including SoC and system architectures, Linux, Android, and RTOS platforms.
• Expertise in connectivity and multimedia domains.
• Solid understanding of power and performance optimization and product quality.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage executive audiences.
