About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical strategy and platform roadmap for the digital loyalty domain, ensuring alignment with Business, Product, and Compliance stakeholders.
  • Oversee the delivery of digital experiences for Scotiabank Canada's loyalty suite, including points accrual, redemption, and partner integrations.
  • Lead engineering teams in building reusable business APIs that integrate loyalty products with mobile, web, and core banking systems.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, transitioning from legacy systems to cloud-native, API-first, and event-based architectures.
  • Manage and grow a high-performance engineering organization through talent development, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Ensure secure and compliant engineering delivery, adhering to data privacy, cyber controls, and regulatory risk protocols.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing large, complex technology projects.
  • Minimum 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing and delivering annual projects exceeding $5M.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale transformation programs and platform modernization.
  • Strong background in software engineering or DevSecOps.
  • Experience with cloud development technologies and providers such as Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, a Diploma, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership (VP, SVP) and present technical roadmaps.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of banking processes, procedures, and cross-functional engagement.
  • Experience working with Internal Audit and Regulatory Assessments (e.g., SOX, OSFI, CDIC).
  • Proficiency in Agile, DevOps, and Waterfall methodologies within an enterprise environment.
