About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the technical strategy and platform roadmap for digital investments, ensuring alignment with Business, Product, Architecture, and Compliance stakeholders.
- Oversee the delivery of digital experiences for the Scotiabank Canada investment portfolio across mobile, web, and API ecosystems.
- Lead engineering teams in building reusable business APIs that integrate investment products with core banking systems and external custodians.
- Drive modernization initiatives, including cloud-native engineering, migration from legacy systems, and the implementation of DevSecOps and microservices.
- Manage and grow a high-performance engineering organization through talent development, coaching, and succession planning.
- Ensure all engineering outputs are secure, compliant, and resilient, adhering to regulatory expectations and data privacy requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing large, complex technology projects with significant operational components.
- Minimum of 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience.
- 3+ years of experience managing and delivering annual projects exceeding $5M.
- Proven track record leading large-scale transformation programs and platform modernization.
- Strong background in software engineering or DevSecOps.
- Experience leading teams in cloud development using technologies such as Containers, VMs, and Microservices (Google Cloud or Azure).
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, a Diploma, or equivalent technical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of banking processes, procedures, and cross-functional engagement.
- Experience working with Internal Audit and Regulatory Assessments (e.g., SOX, OSFI, CDIC).
- Proficiency with Agile, Waterfall, and DevOps methodologies in an enterprise environment.
