Director, Distribution Strategy and Governance

Responsibilities

• Oversee domestic distribution policy for all Alexion Japan products to ensure reliable delivery and appropriate use.
• Integrate pricing conditions with distribution channel design to maximize business value and minimize risk.
• Develop and maintain robust distribution rules, wholesaler engagement schemes, and automated processes.
• Build and manage strong relationships with wholesaler headquarters and regional leadership through regular reviews.
• Design and manage GDP-compliant rules, standards, and inspection mechanisms in collaboration with Quality and SCM teams.
• Lead decision-making during critical events such as new product launches, drug price revisions, or supply constraints.
• Utilize data-driven insights (sell-in/sell-out, KPIs, and market trends) to drive negotiations and strategic planning.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution and wholesaler management in Japan (including drug pricing, GDP, and cold chain).
• 10+ years of experience in sales or distribution within the pharmaceutical industry.
• 5+ years of experience in wholesaler engagement and relationship management.
• Proven track record in integrating pricing and channel strategies.
• Strong data-driven decision-making and negotiation skills.
• Native-level Japanese language proficiency.
• Bachelor's degree or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in channel design linked to limited distribution or patient support programs for rare diseases.
• Established high-level relationships with major wholesaler headquarters and large hospital groups.
• Experience implementing digital distribution strategies (BI, traceability, or connected logistics).
• Experience with S&OP/IBP processes and demand forecasting governance.
• Background in GDP auditing, SLA/KPI design, and vendor management.
