Director, Development and Project Management - Solar PV & BESS

Responsibilities

• Lead site prospecting and land acquisition for Solar PV, BESS, and EV fast-charging projects in Japan.
• Conduct feasibility studies, due diligence, and negotiate land lease or purchase-and-sale agreements with landowners.
• Manage the full project lifecycle from concept through financial close, including permitting and grid interconnection.
• Oversee technical specifications, procurement strategies, and RFP preparation with EPC contractors and vendors.
• Execute project management during the construction phase, ensuring quality, safety, schedule, and cost controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in logistics, data centers, finance, and legal to ensure seamless project handovers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Civil), Environmental Science, Real Estate, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in renewable energy project development, specifically with large-scale Solar PV and BESS.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in site prospecting and land acquisition for renewable energy projects.
• Proven track record in negotiating land agreements and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Foundational knowledge of PV and BESS modelling and grid interconnection processes.
• Experience with EV charger installation.
• Business-level English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree (MBA, Engineering, or Real Estate).
• Professional Engineer (Electrical/Electronics) qualification or equivalent.
• Experience with BESS-specific contracts such as ESA, MSA, LTSA, and EPC.
• Track record of building a solar + BESS pipeline of 200 MW or more.
• Experience working with tax equity investors and project finance lenders.
