Director Design & Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning Design & Engineering, Technology, and Architecture
• Establish standards, templates, and quality criteria across all project phases
• Define planning maturity levels, required deliverables, and handover points
• Ensure coordinated collaboration between all relevant planning disciplines and external interfaces (MEP, structural engineering, etc.)
• Create reliable foundations for cost planning, bills of quantities, tendering, and procurement
• Contribute to cost and budget estimates from early acquisition through to detailed execution planning
• Strengthen the Design & Engineering unit as a core enabling function for business units and project teams

Requirements

• Proven senior leadership experience in a design, architectural planning, or engineering role
• Experience in turnkey projects (interior fit-out/AVL) within exhibitions, museums, or live events
• Native German speaker with fluent English skills
• Strong expertise in cost planning, budget development, and tender documentation
• Deep understanding of interdisciplinary planning and construction-related interfaces (MEP, fire safety, etc.)
• Ability to structure complexity and lead teams in demanding, high-stakes project environments
• Ideally, international experience in both Germany and the Middle East
