Director, Data Platform Engineering

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, delivery, and adoption of a governed Data, Knowledge, and Skills stack to power analytics and AI agents.
• Design and scale semantic and operational layers on top of the Databricks Data Lakehouse.
• Enforce strong data governance, lineage, and regional compliance across the global platform.
• Develop reusable analytical workflows, agent-callable tools, and automated pipelines.
• Lead the regional and global data localization strategy to satisfy regulatory requirements while maintaining a unified global data model.
• Partner with Data Science, AI engineering, Product, and Risk teams to drive platform adoption and improve developer experience.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in data or platform engineering.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams in complex, multi-region environments.
• Proven experience architecting modern data platforms, including semantic layers or knowledge graphs.
• Strong expertise in data modeling (transactional, event-driven, dimensional, and feature tables).
• Deep familiarity with modern lakehouse architectures, specifically Databricks.
• Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and regulatory controls in multi-jurisdictional contexts.
• Experience implementing data localization and residency strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with a "Platform-as-a-Product" mindset, driving adoption through clear SLAs/SLOs.
• Track record of building programmatic capabilities such as APIs and orchestration frameworks.
• Experience working in high-growth fintech or global financial services environments.
