Director Data Engineering

Responsibilities

• Architect and own end-to-end data pipelines from commercial data ingestion through raw, conformed, and AI/ML serving layers on cloud lakehouse platforms.
• Partner with AI/ML and Commercial Analytics teams to deliver purpose-built data products optimized for model training and real-time scoring.
• Lead the technical design of data contracts, including schema, SLAs, ownership, and lineage.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering patterns such as medallion architecture, streaming ingestion, and feature store integration.
• Establish data product governance frameworks to ensure compliance with FDA, HIPAA, CCPA, and GDPR standards.
• Build observability infrastructure including data quality checks, lineage tracking, and anomaly alerting.
• Manage and mentor a team of data specialists, defining engineering standards and capability-building roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, including pipeline development and data architecture.
• Proven experience architecting production-grade pipelines on Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.
• Deep expertise in ETL/ELT frameworks and transformation tooling, specifically dbt.
• Experience with pharmaceutical commercial data (IQVIA, Symphony, DDD, claims, CRM) and healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, FDA).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor highly technical teams.
