Director - Data Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a distributed team of data and platform engineers to foster technical excellence and professional growth
• Drive the strategy and execution of a next-generation data platform, designing scalable high-performance systems
• Oversee the design and implementation of ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake to ensure data quality for multi-terabyte scale stores
• Partner with investment, risk, and product teams to translate complex business requirements into high-performance database solutions
• Guide best practices for cloud infrastructure on AWS or Azure and manage containerized data services
• Lead deep-dive post-mortem analysis and provide architectural solutions for complex database issues

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering, Database Architecture, and Distributed Systems
• Proven expertise in modern data warehousing technologies, specifically Snowflake
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure and services (AWS or Azure)
• Expertise in writing complex SQL and Python
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internals
• Demonstrated ability in database design, SQL tuning, and query optimization for OLTP and OLAP systems
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building analytics with full-stack data science and visualization tools like Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Streamlit
• Knowledge and experience working in classical or modern Machine Learning projects
• Experience working closely with ML Engineers
