About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all NCAA Division III men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.
- Oversee program operations including scheduling, travel coordination, competition management, equipment oversight, and budget administration.
- Design and implement comprehensive training and competition plans to promote athletic performance and student-athlete development.
- Lead recruiting efforts to identify and attract student-athletes who align with the mission and values of Otterbein University.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches, the head cross country coach, and student employees.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress, eligibility, and overall well-being in collaboration with campus partners.
- Serve as Meet Director/Manager for hosting track & field and cross country competitions.
- Ensure compliance with all University, NCAA, and Ohio Athletic Conference rules and policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education, or a related athletic field.
- Proven experience in collegiate coaching and recruiting.
- Strong supervisory and leadership experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel extensively and operate University vehicles, including passenger vans.
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor weather conditions and extended hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning specifically for college athletes.
- Experience managing complex budgets and administrative program operations.
