Director - Corporate Communications

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications for Avangrid’s New York utilities, including NYSEG and RG&E
• Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for issues management, customers, and employees
• Provide strategic counsel to operating company leadership regarding reputation management and proactive planning
• Manage and develop a team of three communications professionals, providing coaching and performance feedback
• Oversee media relations, crisis communications, executive communications, and social media programs
• Serve as an authorized spokesperson and Public Information Officer (PIO) during emergencies and major events
• Partner with Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs, and Legal teams to align messaging with business objectives
• Manage relationships with external agencies, vendors, and community partners

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
• Proven expertise in communications strategy and media relations
• Extensive experience in crisis and issues management
• Strong managerial experience with a track record of leading teams
• Superior writing, editing, and project management skills
• Ability to influence senior leaders and work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a spokesperson for live and taped media interviews

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a related field of study
• Knowledge of the electric and gas utility industry
