Director, Core Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of high-performing engineers to identify and deliver foundational technologies that enable innovative tools and workflows
• Set the strategy and execution plans for the Software R&D Core team in alignment with studio priorities
• Oversee Team Leads to influence the design and evolution of proprietary software solutions
• Collaborate with the VP of Software R&D and key production partners to develop long-term vision for the Tools group
• Interface with industry partners regarding open-source technologies such as USD, Hydra, OpenExec, and OpenSubdiv
• Manage a high-performance group of team leads, providing technical oversight and guiding career development
• Implement and evangelize engineering practices to build high-quality software in a sustainable way

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science or an equivalent degree
• 10+ years of industry experience as an engineer or engineering lead
• 5+ years of experience managing or leading a development team
• Expertise in C++ and Python
• Strong working knowledge of modern software development methodologies and design patterns
• Demonstrated success building world-class software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
