Director, Construction - Roadways

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all pre-execution planning and site execution for roadway construction projects, specifically supporting the Hamilton LRT project.
• Develop means, methods, sequencing, and staging for road and guideway construction in utility-dense urban environments.
• Prepare and staff a construction team of experienced supervisory personnel and manage hiring plans and labour relations.
• Liaise with engineering staff to ensure the constructability of designs and reduce downstream risk.
• Accountable for all site execution, including timely performance, site safety, and adherence to quality standards.
• Maintain positive relationships with client construction counterparts and manage stakeholder communications.
• Identify succession plans for key individuals and implement necessary training and verification of supervisor qualifications.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in civil construction, with a strong focus on roadway works.
• Proven experience delivering urban roadway projects in constrained environments.
• Strong background in complex staging, traffic management, and utilities coordination.
• Experience in Alliance, Design Build, Progressive Design Build, and/or P3 delivery models.
• Civil Engineering background preferred, or equivalent hands-on roadway construction experience.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaborative skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and support large, multi-section projects.
