Director, Civil Litigation

Responsibilities

• Represent the company in court for civil liability cases, including defamation and freedom of the press
• Advise internal clients on media law and other areas related to subsidiary activities
• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Draft judicial documents such as formal notices, statements of claim, defenses, and affidavits
• Actively participate in litigation case management
• Attend hearings, settlement conferences, and trials
• Participate in special projects

Requirements

• Member of the Barreau du Québec
• Minimum of 10 years of litigation experience, ideally in the media sector
• Experience coordinating complex legal mandates
• Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities in a dynamic environment
• Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
• Intermediate proficiency in English (spoken and written)
