Director, Capital Project Management

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of strategic capital investments from front-end loading through execution, commissioning, qualification, and transition to steady-state operations.
• Manage the development, review, and submission of Capital Project Appropriations (CPAs) and present to capital investment committees.
• Determine project structures, resource needs, and required skill sets to ensure successful execution.
• Lead Technical Peer Reviews and Post Implementation Reviews to drive continuous improvement in capital project management processes.
• Design and deliver global standards, processes, and tools to ensure consistency and quality across the global network.
• Mentor and coach peers and subordinates to enhance technical knowledge and support career development.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 14 years of experience in engineering and design, installation, commissioning, and vertical start-up of capital projects.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience serving as the overall project manager for capital projects with total costs between $100M and $250M USD.
• Hands-on experience in contract negotiation and management with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Deep knowledge of project controls, construction law, risk management, and contracting strategies such as EPC and EPCM.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to relocate to the project location for the duration of the project and support up to 50% domestic travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree, such as an MBA.
• Deep knowledge of Life Science industry Quality standards (e.g., GMP) and global regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA).
• Experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
