Director, Backend Engineering

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance back-end systems, APIs, and databases
• Architect scalable, secure, and efficient server-side solutions for high transaction volumes
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and DevOps teams
• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment
• Champion the adoption of AI tools to improve team productivity and business outcomes
• Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in back-end development
• At least 2 years in a senior role
• Mandatory experience from a retail brokerage
• Hands-on experience with Node, Express, TypeScript, and Nest.js
• Strong experience with SQL and exposure to NoSQL
• Experience with Microservices and Event-based architecture
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Caching and Messaging Queues like Kafka
• Proficiency with Postman and Git/Bitbucket

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a startup environment
• Experience taking a product from zero to one
