Director, Antibody Discovery

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the antibody discovery strategy and deliver therapeutic antibody projects.
• Provide expert advice on the feasibility of antibody tractable targets and the conception of high-value drug molecules.
• Drive decision-making on construct design, format, and developability according to Target Product Profile specifications.
• Lead lead sequence and format optimizations using rational, structure-based, and in silico/AI/ML design approaches.
• Act as a drug discovery project leader, steering cross-functional matrix teams from early conception through development candidate nomination and IND submission.
• Identify, select, and manage external CROs, vendors, and academic collaborators to maintain a state-of-the-art discovery platform.
• Contribute to broader corporate strategy, business development evaluations, and exploratory platform initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience advancing protein therapeutics through drug discovery phases to development.
• Expertise in structure-based protein engineering and the design of antibodies (including multispecifics, Fc engineering, and fusion proteins).
• Advanced skills in antibody engineering, including display technologies, humanization, and sequence liability remediation.
• Proficiency in using in silico, structure-based, and AI/ML approaches for sequence and CDR design.
• Extensive project leadership experience in a pharmaceutical R&D environment.
• A track record of advocating for the acquisition or creation of new technologies for accelerated antibody design and characterization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in early-stage or start-up biotech environments.
• Experience working with genetic and genomics platform-driven drug target discovery.
• Broader understanding of protein sciences, including expression, developability, and analytical purification.
• Experience managing the design and validation of cellular assays for functional characterization of engineered biologics.
