Director, Academic Advising

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality academic advising and coaching services to undergraduate students, with a focus on freshmen and students facing academic barriers.
• Implement strategies to increase undergraduate student persistence and retention rates.
• Collaborate closely with the Academic and Career Development team, undergraduate faculty advisors, and other university student support offices.
• Support the University’s Mission and Service Standards Framework through student engagement and support.
• Participate in university events and activities, including New Student Orientation, Convocation, and Commencement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in higher education, education, student personnel, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in academic advising, academic coaching, or student support services at the college or university level.
• Strong knowledge of current theories and practices in student development, retention, and academic/career coaching.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including experience with small group presentations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Instagram, and Canva.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in academic coaching or career services.
• Experience administering personality inventories such as Myers-Briggs.
