Direct Support Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide essential support to residents in a men's residential shelter
• Strictly follow program policies, procedures, and professional boundaries
• Document daily resident activities in log books and prepare shift exchanges
• Complete incident reports and document recommendations for resolving issues
• Work with the Case Management team to provide information for resident case plans
• Manage small cash interactions and reconcile the till at the end of shifts
• Distribute essential supplies such as linen and hygiene products

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one year of experience working with marginalized clientele, specifically focusing on mental health support
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification
• Mental Health First Aid certification
• Ability to pass a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work in a 24/7 facility, including days, evenings, and nights

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in Social Service Work or Mental Health & Addictions
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
• Narcan/Naloxone training
• Training in Trauma-Informed Care or De-escalation techniques
