Direct Support Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to residents to ensure safety and adherence to house rules and parole conditions
• Distribute medications and maintain accurate records in the medication log book
• Perform regular house rounds to ensure premises are clean and conduct accurate head counts
• Monitor sign-out logs and verify resident locations
• Complete intake and out-take tasks for residents
• Maintain constant alertness and ensure the security of the building and residents
• Participate in staff meetings and regular evaluations with the Director
• Protect the confidentiality of all residents and staff

Requirements

• Subject to Canadian Reliability Status for the duration of employment
• Computer literacy
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Ability to undergo applicable background checks and screenings

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or experience in a related field
• Ability to understand offender behavior dynamics and assess needs and risks
• Experience with crisis intervention and the use of authority in supervision
• Skills in counseling and building trust-based relationships
• Demonstrated cultural competence and respect for diversity
