Direct Support Professional

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality personal care and 1:1 support, including assistance with dietary and health needs.
• Support residents' emotional needs by recognizing signs of distress and using approved de-escalation techniques.
• Promote a calm, respectful, and supportive environment that encourages personal growth and community involvement.
• Document medical concerns and daily progress clearly in electronic health record systems.
• Facilitate community engagement and outside activities for residents.
• Perform household duties such as meal planning, preparation, cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
• Work with residents on Individual Service Plan (ISP) outcomes and attend required staff meetings and trainings.

Requirements

• Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle.
• Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to obtain Medication Administration and CPR certification within six months of hire.
• Physical ability to perform household tasks, walk, climb stairs, and assist individuals with mobility needs.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during emotional or crisis situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of direct care experience in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Experience supporting individuals with behavioral challenges using de-escalation techniques.
