About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality personal care and 1:1 support, including assistance with health and dietary needs.
  • Support residents' emotional needs by recognizing signs of distress and using approved de-escalation techniques.
  • Promote a calm, respectful, and supportive environment to encourage personal growth and community involvement.
  • Maintain clear written documentation regarding medical concerns and daily progress in electronic health record systems.
  • Facilitate community engagement and outside activities for residents.
  • Perform household duties such as meal planning, preparation, shopping, cleaning, and laundry.
  • Work toward Individual Service Plan (ISP) outcomes and attend required staff meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle.
  • Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must obtain Medication Administration and CPR certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emotional or crisis situations.
  • Physical ability to assist individuals with mobility, including walking, climbing stairs, and assisting if a resident falls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of direct care experience in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Experience supporting individuals with emotional or behavioral challenges using de-escalation techniques.
