Direct Support Professional 1:1

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality personal care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs
• Support residents' emotional needs by recognizing signs of distress and using approved de-escalation techniques
• Promote a calm, respectful, and supportive environment that encourages personal growth and community involvement
• Document medical concerns and daily progress clearly in electronic health record systems
• Facilitate community engagement and outside activities for residents
• Perform household duties including meal planning, preparation, shopping, cleaning, and laundry
• Work with residents on Individual Service Plan (ISP) outcomes and maintain familiarity with their backgrounds

Requirements

• Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle
• Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to obtain Medication Administration and CPR certification within 6 months of hire
• Capacity to support behavioral and mental health needs using approved intervention techniques
• Flexibility to work PRN shifts (minimum 6 hours per month) with availability for various shifts on short notice

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of direct care experience in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities
• Experience supporting individuals with emotional or behavioral challenges
