About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality personal care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs
- Support residents' emotional needs by recognizing signs of distress and using approved de-escalation techniques
- Promote a calm, respectful, and supportive environment that encourages personal growth and community involvement
- Document medical concerns and daily progress clearly in electronic health record systems
- Facilitate community engagement and outside activities for residents
- Perform household duties including meal planning, preparation, shopping, cleaning, and laundry
- Work with residents on Individual Service Plan (ISP) outcomes and maintain familiarity with their backgrounds
Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to obtain Medication Administration and CPR certification within 6 months of hire
- Capacity to support behavioral and mental health needs using approved intervention techniques
- Flexibility to work PRN shifts (minimum 6 hours per month) with availability for various shifts on short notice
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of direct care experience in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Experience supporting individuals with emotional or behavioral challenges
