For over 50 years, Covenant House New York (CHNY) has been at the forefront of transforming lives by providing comprehensive shelter, housing, and wrap-around support services for vulnerable homeless, runaway, and exploited youth. We operate with harm reduction and trauma-informed principles to ensure the best care for our youth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Resident Advisors and lead their day-to-day tasks at residential programs
  • Provide regular supervision, schedules, appraisals, and team meetings
  • Participate in case reviews and case planning with Case Managers
  • Respond to and assist the team during crisis situations using de-escalation skills
  • Oversee monitoring and accountability of residential program staff
  • Implement and track ongoing training and professional development
  • Coordinate onboarding for all new Resident Advisors
  • Ensure adequate coverage for all operating shifts, including weekends and holidays

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working with diverse groups is required
  • Experience working with young people is required
  • Knowledge of human service delivery systems and residential care
  • Strong leadership, management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • On-call availability required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth experiencing homelessness
  • Experience utilizing evidence-based social service models
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience utilizing data dashboards and metrics to improve outcomes
