Direct Commodity Purchasing Specialist IV

Responsibilities

• Support strategic sourcing initiatives for direct materials and production components to drive cost savings and supply assurance.
• Develop and execute commodity strategies that strengthen supplier partnerships and improve consistency across production lines.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Planning teams to manage BOM-aligned spend.
• Maintain working knowledge of assigned direct commodities through relationships with suppliers, market experts, and global liaisons.
• Identify business enablement opportunities and provide commodity-related insights through published plans and sourcing calendars.
• Create and maintain a commodity-specific initiative pipeline to forecast and guide procurement projects.
• Track commodity metrics and savings targets, monitoring performance and communicating results to stakeholders.
• Partner with internal risk and compliance groups to ensure strategies account for relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of category management, procurement, or purchasing experience supporting direct commodities and materials.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project) for building analyses and tracking timelines.
• Strong analytical and financial skills, including the ability to evaluate total cost and savings opportunities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present recommendations to stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and drive work to completion in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience sourcing direct components in a manufacturing environment (electronics, electromechanical assemblies, or metal fabrication).
• Familiarity with supplier quality processes such as PPAP/FAI concepts, corrective actions, and audits.
• Experience supporting NPI/engineering changes, supplier qualification, and approved vendor list (AVL) processes.
• Knowledge of contract terms, Incoterms, and basic logistics concepts supporting material flow.
