Direct Client Support Worker

About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide information, referrals, resources, and support regarding eating disorders and food/weight preoccupation via telephone, email, or chat
- Respond to inquiries from a diverse client base in a timely, non-judgmental manner
- Analyze client situations to determine appropriate community social, economic, recreational, and educational services
- Utilize soft counseling skills to provide support and assist with system/pathway navigation
- Recognize and respond to potential emergency or crisis situations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant community services and resources
- Support new staff and volunteers by monitoring calls/chats and providing guidance
- Maintain accurate statistics of client interactions for reporting purposes
- Assist with program content, including researching and writing for social media and distributing materials
Requirements
- Completion of a 2-year community college program in Human Services, Social Service Worker, or a recognized equivalent
- College diploma in the counseling or social services field
- At least 2 years of experience providing support or counseling to individuals with mental health issues
- Crisis counseling and intervention training
- Solid understanding of eating disorders, related mental health issues, and food/weight preoccupation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and general computer literacy
