Digital Media Producer I

Responsibilities

• Develop and pitch compelling, platform-agnostic story ideas centered on issues affecting Ontarians
• Conduct in-depth research to uncover unique angles and solutions for various topics
• Suggest and line up guests, prepare background notes, scripting, and questions for studio and field content
• Direct interviews in-studio or on location and manage interactions with guests and the public
• Propose, develop, write, and edit content in a variety of formats for broadcast and social platforms
• Maintain a social media presence to promote content and engage audiences in real time
• Determine visual style, pace, and format for digital video content relative to specific platforms
• Collaborate with editors to craft engaging narratives and ensure diverse perspectives are represented

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in journalism or a related field
• Strong storytelling, research, and writing skills
• Familiarity with creating data visualizations
• Deep understanding of the distinctive styles of digital and social platforms
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
• Passion for explanatory journalism and current affairs
