About the Company

The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. The Digital Forensics Laboratory provides support by forensically analyzing various types of digital evidence to assist in criminal investigations.

Responsibilities

• Extract and analyze data from mobile phones, tablets, GPS equipment, and computers
• Utilize scripting, decoding/decryption techniques, and SQL to analyze data not supported by commercial tools
• Validate forensic results using hex editors and other technical methods
• Perform data recovery across various file systems including NTFS, exFAT, APFS, and HFS+
• Conduct research on emerging technologies to inform laboratory policies
• Write thorough forensic reports and testify in Grand Jury and Trial proceedings
• Image digital storage devices and conduct forensic examinations
• Participate in search warrants involving digital evidence retrieval
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to guide investigators on evidence preservation
• Provide guidance to junior laboratory personnel
• Manage case intake and chain of custody documentation
• Maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree and two years of relevant experience; OR
• High school graduation and six years of relevant experience; OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have at least one year of experience related to the duties described
