Digital Archives Specialist

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain digital collections of rare and unique materials for Special Collections and Archives
• Perform high-quality digitization of tangible materials according to preservation standards
• Create, apply, and maintain archival metadata for digital items
• Upload digital materials to discovery platforms and manage records in content management systems like ArchivesSpace
• Develop best practices, workflows, and digital exhibits to support research and discovery
• Research and document preservation standards and supervise student employees as needed

Requirements

• 1 year of experience in libraries or archives
• Proficiency with data management tools, specifically Excel and Google Sheets
• Strong writing, research, and communication skills
• Experience with digitization workflows and archival description

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with metadata best practices and archival standards
• Experience working in special collections or related cultural heritage settings
• Experience with Archive-IT web crawls or similar digital preservation tools
