About the role
Responsibilities
- Handle, label, prepare, and deliver human milk, infant/pediatric formulas, and enteral nutrition formulas following safety guidelines.
- Verify recipes against feeding orders in the electronic health record to generate accurate labels and production lists.
- Deliver prepared products to patient rooms using appropriate patient identifiers and safety precautions.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment using aseptic techniques, equipment cleaning, and temperature monitoring.
- Collaborate with registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) and other healthcare disciplines to fulfill Milk Room requests.
- Protect confidential patient information and communicate effectively with team members.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift at least 15 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of newborn and pediatric nutrition.
- Experience with the safe handling, preparation, and fortification of human milk and infant formula.
- Experience using aseptic techniques and electronic health records.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
