Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair down-hole and surface drilling equipment including truck-mounted rigs, track rigs, and hydraulic systems
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine adjustments on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and schematics
• Fabricate and install parts using welding, brazing, and basic machining
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, fluids, and tooling
• Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections and complete maintenance logs
• Assist drill crews with rig-up/rig-down and field troubleshooting
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, lockout/tagout, and environmental regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years experience maintaining heavy diesel engines and hydraulic systems
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
• Physical stamina to lift 50-100 lbs and work in varied outdoor climates

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certificate or degree in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics
• Experience with welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) and machine shop tools
• OSHA 10 or 30, H2S, confined space entry, and first aid/CPR certifications
• Experience with geotechnical drilling rigs, mud systems, and core barrels
