About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee and carry out maintenance for a fleet of 35-40 commercial motor vehicles, including trucks and buses
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning or damaged components and systems
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to repair or replace components
- Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, transmissions, and differential units
- Recondition and replace parts including pistons, bearings, gears, and valves
- Dismount, mount, and repair tires
- Adjust or repair computer-controlled exhaust emissions devices
- Operate CDL vehicles to maneuver them between operations areas and the mechanic shop
- Maintain records of all service and repairs performed on company vehicles
- Maintain mechanic shop safety through cleaning and equipment inspections
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of apprenticeship, vocational training, or related experience
- Extensive knowledge of diesel vehicle maintenance and repair
- Proficiency with computer diagnostic equipment and software
- Ability to read service manuals and work orders
- Willingness to travel between locations in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
