Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician I

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize safety and reliability
• Assist senior technicians in performing FAI/CVI inspections on tractors, trailers, and light-duty vehicles
• Perform quality maintenance repairs under guidance to address malfunctions and road-call repairs
• Diagnose causes of malfunctions in engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brake systems, and HVAC systems
• Document all work performed on work orders using proper complaint, cause, and correction formats
• Develop proficiency in company computer programs and diagnostic software

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
• Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and components
• Basic welding and cutting skills (gas, electric, MIG, TIG)
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 100lbs
• Must own and provide personal tools (major diagnostic equipment and large tools provided by company)

Preferred Qualifications

• Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training from a 2-year school
• ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks
• 609 HVAC Certification
• Annual Inspector or Brake Inspector Certifications
