Dialysis Patient Care Technician - PCT Preceptor

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Operate and maintain hemodialysis machines and ensure proper setup and disinfection
• Perform vascular access cannulation, evaluate access patency, and administer heparin as permitted
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment before, during, and after dialysis
• Serve as a clinical preceptor to mentor, orient, and train new patient care personnel
• Conduct competency evaluations and audits to ensure high standards of patient care
• Assist in patient education regarding disease processes, adequacy measures, and self-care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including treatment sheets and progress notes
• Support infection control practices and participate in quality improvement activities

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid PCT national or state certification
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, and moving of patients

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least five years of patient care experience in a hospital or related clinical setting
