Dialysis Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties and ensure the cleanliness of the dialysis unit work area
• Maintain supply inventory, including ordering, stocking, and checking for accuracy
• Assist with the priming, dismantling, cleaning, and disinfecting of dialysis machines
• Provide direct patient assistance, including weighing, washroom trips, transfers, and transportation via walker or wheelchair
• Perform heavy lifting and assist patients as required
• Conduct dialysate sampling and adhere to routine safety and preventative maintenance measures
• Document information in patient charts while protecting sensitive patient records

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
• Proven experience in direct or indirect patient care
• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including days and statutory holidays
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or housekeeping setting
• Prior experience with hemodialysis
