DevOps Engineer

About the Company

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSS’s technology services organization, dedicated to supporting the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies by enhancing technology infrastructure and computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform system design and implement software release management strategies using agile processes
• Design and implement CI/CD models using Jenkins, Red Hat Linux, Git, Java, Maven, and Azure DevOps
• Use GIT for source code version control and perform code reviews to ensure codebase quality
• Develop design solutions for container systems including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
• Write Ansible playbooks to automate application deployment and integrate with Jenkins
• Manage AWS infrastructure including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Route53, VPC, and Load Balancers
• Implement observability strategies and monitoring using Splunk and AppDynamics APM
• Maintain and expand Linux and container environments and create system integration scripts using JSON, REST, and XML

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
• 4 years of experience in datacenter/cloud engineering and complex IT infrastructure operations (or 8 years of experience if degree is not held)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control
• Proficiency with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar)
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure management
