Device Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair of mobile test devices, including battery replacement, component-level disassembly, and OS updates
• Maintain supporting hardware infrastructure, such as the Faraday Cage and RF door seals, to ensure reliable test environment operation
• Manage Apple Accounts required for device personalization and readiness
• Monitor observability dashboards and infrastructure metrics to identify and troubleshoot emerging issues
• Respond to user-reported problems with level 1 diagnosis and remediation across hardware and software systems
• Maintain accurate inventory records for devices, accessories, tools, and remotely assigned assets
• Support product testing activities by assisting colleagues with the execution of test plans

Requirements

• Demonstrated comfort performing hands-on hardware work, including the use of a hot air rework station for device disassembly and repair
• Familiarity with Linux at a command-line level
• Strong organizational habits for accurate inventory and asset management
• Ability to work with maturity and self-direction without close supervision
• Eligibility for registration with the Controlled Goods Program
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in electronics, mobile device repair, or a related technical discipline
• Prior exposure to using CAD tools and 3D printers
• Experience with asset management, IT support, or inventory systems
• Experience within mobile phone development environments
