Development Officer

Responsibilities

• Manage and advance a portfolio of individual major gift prospects through qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
• Develop and execute individualized donor strategies aligned with XOCOM’s mission and strategic priorities
• Secure philanthropic support for institutional priorities, including capital, scholarships, and faculty recruitment
• Prepare cultivation, briefing, and solicitation documents, including gift agreements for confirmed gifts
• Partner with development colleagues at Xavier University of Louisiana and Ochsner Health to advance aligned fundraising opportunities
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of donor interactions and outcomes in the CRM system

Requirements

• 5–7 years of frontline fundraising experience with demonstrated success closing major gifts in complex organizations
• Experience managing a donor portfolio using a disciplined moves management approach
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively with high-level prospects, donors, and volunteers
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and programming

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education, academic medicine, or healthcare philanthropy
• Proficiency working in start-up or growth-phase organizations
• Strong emotional intelligence and leadership presence
• Familiarity and experience with national fundraising campaigns
