Development Engineer 5 (RDKV Architecture)

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and architect new software and web applications within embedded systems and video platform environments
• Drive technical decision-making at an organization-wide scale
• Oversee documentation of all development activities and track performance metrics
• Provide guidance, support, and training to other engineers and non-technical personnel
• Lead multi-vendor and multi-geography engineering groups and complex projects
• Analyze, test, and assist with the integration of new applications

Requirements

• 15–20 years of experience in embedded systems or video platform engineering
• Deep expertise in C/C++, Linux, multi-threading, IPC, and memory management
• Extensive experience with GStreamer or similar media frameworks
• Strong knowledge of video delivery technologies including DASH, HLS, DRM, and ABR algorithms
• Proficiency with RDK-V components such as the Thunder framework, playback pipelines, and device HALs
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Contributions or leadership roles within the RDK Open-Source community
• Experience with cloud-native technologies, microservices, or containerization
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and device deployment ecosystems
• Familiarity with modern video standards such as AV1, CMAF, and LL-HLS/LL-DASH
