Detention Deputy Cadet

Responsibilities

• Assist in the control, monitoring, movement, and activities of inmates and detainees
• Maintain the safety and security of the facility, personnel, visitors, and inmates
• Perform inmate counts to ensure accurate population totals
• Process inmate bookings and releases and maintain detention records
• Physically escort inmates by vehicle or on foot
• Perform physical searches of inmates and the facility
• Respond to emergency situations and assist with the restraint of detainees
• Perform general administrative duties as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Valid Arizona driver's license
• Ability to pass a polygraph and drug test
• Ability to pass physical fitness tests (including a 1.5 mile run, push-ups, and sit-ups)
• Successful completion of the Detention Certification Academy
• Ability to work any shift, including holidays, evenings, nights, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a security or law enforcement environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy
