Designer I

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of technical products and components for fire rescue vehicles
• Use CAD and CAE software to develop structural designs, model new designs, and produce detailed engineering drawings
• Create and review material part specifications and bills of materials
• Verify designs through calculations and analytical techniques
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methodologies with an emphasis on metal fabrication and assemblies
• Identify problems and root causes using techniques such as 5 Why and root cause analysis
• Execute engineering changes through established documentation processes
• Support manufacturing initiatives by working directly with production employees and leadership

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education
• 0-2 years of related experience in a design or engineering role
• Proficiency with CAD and CAE software
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layouts
• Knowledge of manufacturing industry standards and processes
• Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with root cause analysis
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
