About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build efficient design and analysis flows and methodologies for DTCO to drive next-generation SoC products
  • Develop CAD flows for custom design to push the PPA (power/performance/area) envelope with high levels of automation
  • Drive collaboration with IP development teams to ensure process technology, design rules, and standard cell designs are consumable
  • Explore methodologies to achieve low-power and high-performance goals for Samsung-specific SoC design styles
  • Solve CAD and design methodology challenges by creating analysis metrics to remove development bottlenecks
  • Provide and maintain thorough documentation and publish technical results

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor's, 13+ years with a Master's, or 11+ years with a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in custom design tools and methodology development
  • 10+ years of experience with industry standard automated design tools (synthesis, PnR, EM/IR, STA, or physical verification)
  • 10+ years of experience with Cadence Innovus and/or Synopsys Fusion Compiler
  • Expertise in PPA analysis across standard cell libraries, memory compilers, and interconnect stack options
  • Strong knowledge of CMOS fundamentals, device physics, and scaling trends at advanced technology nodes
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages including Tcl, Perl, or Python
  • Strong data analysis skills to deduce information from large datasets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with foundries
  • Experience improving productivity and quality of results through machine-learning (ML) practices
