Design & Release Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and launch of automotive accessories from business case approval through market introduction.
• Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives and manage commodity budgets to meet cost reduction goals.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with international Tier 1 and aftermarket suppliers regarding product validation and BOMs.
• Perform CAD packaging, 2D drawings, and feasibility studies using NX and Teamcenter.
• Author and maintain core engineering quality documentation, including DFMEA, FMEA, and DVP&R.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure program execution and support assembly plant launches.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for build issues and perform post-launch warranty analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 3+ years of automotive Design & Release (D&R) experience, specifically with accessories or performance parts.
• Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter (or Catia) for modeling and data management.
• Strong working knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, and GD&T.
• Proven experience in project budget tracking and driving cost reduction through VAVE.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present risks and status to executive management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with injection-molded plastics, interior components, or wiring harness packaging.
• Knowledge of CAN/LIN bus circuits, Bluetooth/WiFi protocols, or High Voltage Battery Systems (HVBS).
• Certification in Quality Methods such as Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt or Black Belt.
• Previous experience working for engineering service companies supporting major OEMs.
