About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Design Release Engineer for assigned chassis subsystems, specializing in either Powertrain Mounts (engine/transmission mounts, torque rods, brackets) or Steering Systems (gears, columns, tie rods, linkages).
  • Own the end-to-end design release process from concept through production, including requirements definition, CAD data release, and BOM ownership.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including CAE, Durability, NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure robust system integration.
  • Lead supplier technical reviews to ensure designs meet functional, packaging, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Manage validation and testing activities, including DFMEA, DVP&R, prototype builds, and root cause analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement through weight reduction, cost optimization, and design robustness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a DRE or Product Engineer within the automotive chassis domain.
  • Proficiency in CAD systems such as CATIA or NX for packaging and interface checks.
  • Solid experience with core engineering tools including DFMEA and DVP&R.
  • Proven experience with design release processes in an OEM or Tier 1 environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of domain-specific manufacturing processes (precision machining, aluminum casting, steel stamping, or rubber vulcanization).
  • Familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
  • For Steering specialists: Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) requirements.
  • Experience supporting multiple global vehicle programs simultaneously.
