Design Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the design process throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
• Develop and maintain design processes including delivery, review, assurance, progress measurement, and document control.
• Create and manage the Design Deliverables Register and Design Assurance Documents.
• Monitor and report on design progress via monthly trackers and KPIs.
• Manage interfaces between external consultants, specialist subcontractors, and internal delivery teams.
• Identify and manage design risks and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Prepare conceptual and detailed designs, including calculations, risk assessments, and sketches.
• Provide training, coaching, and support to the design team to ensure consistent professional standards.
• Represent the design department in internal and external stakeholder meetings.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of design management processes for major building and industrial/logistical projects.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams and specialist subcontractors.
• Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, building regulations, and technical standards.
• Strong programme management, coordination, and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional membership with a recognised industry institution.
• Practical knowledge of BIM processes and digital construction tools.
