Design Manager – Architecture

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the architectural design process for stations, ancillary buildings, and associated transportation facilities.
• Oversee the preparation and review of architectural deliverables across concept, preliminary, and tender stages.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including infrastructure, rail systems, urban planning, MEP, structural, and environmental disciplines.
• Ensure station architecture supports passenger flow, accessibility, wayfinding, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Monitor design progress to ensure alignment with programme, budget, and project milestones.
• Lead design reviews, coordination workshops, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises.
• Manage design risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure seamless system integration.
• Ensure BIM integration and multidisciplinary coordination requirements are implemented across all architectural packages.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a recognized university.
• 15+ years of experience in architectural design, specifically within rail, metro, airport, or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex design interfaces.
• Strong understanding of station planning, passenger flow, and integrated transport environments.
• Experience in design development, coordination, and the preparation of tender documentation.
• Proficiency in BIM platforms and architectural coordination tools.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification or membership of a relevant architectural institute.
• Experience working in complex multi-stakeholder environments, preferably in the GCC.
• Experience in projects involving airport integration or intermodal transport hubs.
• Understanding of airport operations and passenger movement interfaces.
