Design for Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work with aircraft design teams to ensure designs are easy to manufacture through trade studies and fabrication plans
• Develop make vs buy strategies in collaboration with supply chain and fabrication teams
• Collect and report production data to identify high-impact technological advancements
• Design tools and floor plan layouts to support new product introduction
• Create assembly and part level drawings, technical data packages, and BOMs
• Manage the introduction of new products or technology to production, including overseeing first article builds
• Mentor team members and coordinate agile team goals and timelines

Requirements

• Experience with design, fabrication, and testing of new products or technologies
• Working knowledge of materials including aluminum, steel, composites, and coatings
• Proficiency with manufacturing processes such as drilling, lathe, mill, welding, and bonding
• Experience with CAD design, preferably 3DX and Delmia
• Experience developing manufacturing processes for Aerospace applications
• Knowledge of automated manufacturing, robotics, and hardware
• Experience with supplier management for R&D tooling and equipment
