Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support preconstruction design delivery and coordinate with the Design Manager
• Work through the design life cycle from proposal and detailed design to construction
• Perform due diligence and quality control reviews on designs from sub-consultants and clients
• Monitor design progress against schedules and anticipate technical risks
• Coordinate RFIs, minor work changes, field design changes, and construction submittals
• Collaborate with estimating and construction teams to evaluate alternative solutions
• Ensure construction plans and specifications conform to all applicable standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• 3-6 years of related work experience
• Experience with Design-Build or Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
• Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and DOT standards
• Proficiency in CAD software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration
• Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation
• Experience with large-scale projects (> $500M)
• Knowledge of construction means, methods, and field experience
• Familiarity with PennDOT regulations
